"LOVE the binder! You have no idea how long I looked, both online and in stores, for a binder of this quality and size! I am SO happy that this worked out as it did! "

Why to Eliminate Waste - check out what is in the Ocean
February 20, 2012

Why Naked Binder pushes for better recycling, degradable materials and no vinyl.

Plastic that is thrown away doesn't go away. A lot of sits in gyres in the ocean - we have written about the pacific gyre before - a garbage patch that is larger than Texas in the Pacific Ocean. Yikes!

But you don't get to see that unless you make a special trip to far off waters.

The website Inhabitat is showing a series of photos by Mandy Barker that might change that.  She is not taking you to the gyre, she is beautifully showing you want is in the water near you.

Mandy Barker's SOUP photographs via Inhabitat - Naked Binder

Barker collects trash and shows you exactly what happens to the things you throw away. They float, they settle, but they never disappear. One of my favorites is a collection of some of the blue turtles that fell of a ship 16 years ago and have been floating in the currents around the world ever since.

Go to Inhabitat to see more.  Remember, however beautiful the photos, this is not how things have to be.  We can take care not to add to the pollution now and figure out how to clean it up as soon as we can.

Gorgeous, mysterious, and important - and vastly under-recognized. Thanks for posting this link to Mandy Barker.
