While I am not going to list 101 ways right now, I will list a 10 ways a smaller 3-ring binder can help you.

  1. Recipe binder - especially if you have a small kitchen
  2. Daily Planner - print sheets for what you need and stay on top of your projects
  3. Meeting notes.  Be consise and have a binder that will fit in your briefcase, purse, backpack or bike bags
  4. A refillable Moleskin.  OK Hemmingway didn't use a Naked Binder Notebook Binder, but you can. Put any type of paper in it for the sketches, notes, brilliant ideas or scientific notes.
  5. Sudoku binder.  You are a nut and you know it.  Put a pile of Sudoku puzzels in here for easy carrying.
  6. Lists.  Make 'em and cross them off.  Organize anything you need in there.
  7. Kids Travel Binder.  They need something to keep entertained sometimes.  Have mazes, blanks sheets and games in there.  Refillable!
  8. School Binder.  The half sheet binder fits into you backpack, doesn't weigh a ton and has plenty of room for as many notes as you need.
  9. Travel Binder. Put maps, information, phone numbers in one of these half sheet binders.  If you ever go out to places beyond cell reception, you probably need a light and easy way to stay organized.
  10. Mini portfolio.  You never know when you may run into someone who needs what you do.  Always be prepared with a small visual portfolio. Lets face it, people like tangible ways of seeing your products, art, ideas. Always have a digital and tangible way of showing what you do.

So there you have it, and we are just scratching the surface. Portable, strong and recycled, the Naked Binder Notebook binder can make your life easier to carry.

What Do We at Naked Binder Care About?

May 10, 2012 Written By: Ken

When I was a kid, I didn't dream about making binders. So what brought us all here?

There are a couple of fundamental things that draw all of us together.  I will speak of them only from my standpoint and I am sure that however similar, everyone else has a different idea.

Good Design.

For me, design is function, design is detail and design makes something worth using.  While I always liked nicely designed things, it wasn't a passion until my life depended on it.  Somewhere, about 20 years ago, I was introduced to rock climbing. Gear has to work well.  What was interesting about that is that it is very well designed - merging quality, performance and aesthetics.  OK, I may be biased, but a simple carabiner is an amazing piece of art that can hold a 80 foot fall.

Through this pursuit, I changed my idea of what good design was.  The styles of Mies, Eames and others made more sense - "less is more".

Naked binders were designed to perform well, last (quality) and look good.  We went one step farther and worried about the materials we used and what would happen to it after it's useful days were done.

Sustainability.

Since I was about 12, I was fascinated by nature and the world around us.  Not how it worked exactly, but being able to get lost in it. This is hard in Northern New Jersey, but I worked it out.  When I was older I learned to back pack, hike, climb, bike... nearly anything that would get out into nature.

Protecting these places becamevery important to me, more as I had more stress and found the back country to be a meditative place to re-find my own thoughts (as, of course, people have been doing for THOUSANDS of years).

I practiced sustainability in my life in mny of the normal ways, but when I had a chance to do more - to help change the footprint of the ubiquitous 3-ring binder - I jumped on it.

Community.

Now I have taught (many things, many places) and community may be one of the most beautiful things around.  Not a community of people who agree on everything, but rather a community of people who have shared goals. Our goals are education and wilderness.  I think they are the same thing, personally, but Naked Binder works to promote both of these things.

I see euducation is not about learning facts, though those are very usefull, but learning to learn. Our binder can be used to hold the paper you need, but also bring up a question of what your things are made of and what happens to them - its lifecycle.
